Strength TogetHER 4- Session 2

19th September,2020.

Strength TogetHER, facilitated by Lokopakar is a virtual program where we girls come together to share their opinions, thoughts, and experiences. Girls are provided with a moderator to guide them and all girls share their points of view on the varieties of notions.

After a friendly introductory session, we had held our second session on 19th September 2020 via Google meet titled "Are you really okay?". Our moderator for our second session was Miss. Rozina Dahal. She is a development study student and a learner. She is a Kathmandu University graduate and a perfect example of a smart and sweet human being.

 The topic is a common question we ask while being formal/informal but we often lie about it even without giving a second thought. We tend to hide our pain to ourselves and never express it. It like a period in our country that we hide it like it’s a taboo. We all have been living while hiding our pain without any kind of hesitation but now we girls are being vocal about it. Here are some of the points we girls shared ;

         • Our first speaker spoke about the stereotypical ways to answer the question and never being able to plain-spoken about the answer.

• Our second speaker told us about her times when she overthinks while never being able to express her real well-being in front of anyone.

• Our third speaker claimed about her opinion about feeling low and sometimes isolating and how it’s okay to feel that way.

• Our fourth speaker shared with us about the flow of emotions and the feeling I am not okay is normal and is not an individual problem and varies from person to person.

  Our moderator Miss. Rozina Dahal shared her point of view with us. She counseled us with some positive messages for us;

• We are young and have hundreds of days behind for us, so explore your time and live freely.

• Sometimes you will come to a point in your life that nobody will be there to lend you a hand so, we have to adapt to give counseling to oneself and feel good about ourselves.

• Learn to help yourself because you are your first best friend and no one knows you better than thyself.

• Everyone has dissimilar ways of expressing emotions and always be honest about your emotions.

   Hearing all the stories, thoughts, and perspectives, I got a moment to think that I am not alone and not only me but all the 15 participants had similar thoughts about the topic. The  session went really well and I felt relieved and joyous to share my views and ideas. What else would be wonderful than sharing moments with these inspiring girls? Looking forward to interacting with these girls in the future with some the same amount of enthusiasm.
